Whether it is the 200+ acres of active and passive parkland or one of the numerous recreational programs, the city strives to provide leisure opportunities for anyone who lives or visits the community. The City of Huber Heights and Five Rivers Metro Parks both operate facilities and provide programs in the city.

Huber Heights YMCA

The Huber Heights Y serves as the Parks and Recreation Director of the City.  As such all recreational activities are jointly planned and brought to you by the HHY and the City of Huber Heights.  The Y also handles all park shelter reservations. For more information about the HHYMCA visit their website at ymcaonline.org or call 937.236.9622.

Athletics and Special Events

The City of Huber Heights is home to several local leagues for youth and adults and several seasonal special events.  To apply for an athletic or special event usage contact the Huber Heights YMCA at 937.236.9622.

City Parks

Following is a list of the City parks and what is available at each.  Shelters at Cloud, Shullgate, Cottonwood and Gary Sherman Parks are available for reservations.  To reserve a shelter call the Huber Heights Y at 937.236.9622.  The cost to reserve a shelter is $25.00.

Thomas A. Cloud Park (124 acres)

  • Athletic facilities include: tennis courts, ball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields and  basketball courts
  • Six shelters are available for rental (each shelter has 8-10 large picnic tables and a grill).  To reserve a shelter call 937.236.9622.  The cost for each shelter is $25.00.
  • Splash Pad

Community Park (20 acres)
5401 Chambersburg Road

  • One shelter with restroom and grill (shelter at Community Park is first come, first served and NOT available for reservation)
  • Picnic tables (each seat up to 16 people)
  • Gazebo
  • Other picnic tables and additional grills
  • Sports - A basketball court, football field (maintained by Wayne Pee Wee Football), two tennis courts
  • A playground
  • 9 hole frisbee golf course

Cottonwood Park (7 acres)
6000 Fishburg Road

  • One large picnic shelter with several tables that can hold up to 40 people.  To reserve the shelter call 937.236.9622.  The cost is $25.00.
  • Two barbecue grills
  • Restrooms
  • Playground equipment
  • Sports: Ball fields, basketball, sand volleyball
  • Shelter and picnic tables are wheelchair accessible

Shullgate Park (11 acres)
6045 Shull Road

  • One large shelter with picnic tables that can hold up to 48 people.  To reserve the shelter call 937.236.9622.  The cost is $25.00.
  • Two barbecue grills
  • Sports: baseball fields, football/soccer field
  • A walking trails (1/2 mile)
  • Restrooms
  • Playground equipment

Belle Plain Park (3 acres)

Five Rivers MetroParks

The City of Huber Heights is fortunate to have two MetroParks within its boundaries. Just north of I-70 is Carriage Hill MetroPark Farm and on the northwestern boundary of Huber Heights is Taylorsville MetroPark and the Great Miami River Recreation Trail. All of these facilities are yours to explore.

Carriage Hill MetroPark Farm is dedicated to the protection and stewardship of the Miami Valley’s natural and cultural heritage with nearly 900 acres dedicated to natural and historic settings. Taylorsville MetroPark combines recreational and educational opportunities. Taylorsville’s 1,300 acres brings people closer to nature and all it offers…enhancing our quality of life. Enjoy over 13 miles of trails — hike through a pristine old growth hardwood forest, wander through prairies or enjoy panoramic views of the Great Miami River.

The Great Miami River Recreation Trail is your road to adventure. You can bike, hike, run or in-line skate on this 5.5-mile scenic paved trail. Winding along the Miami-Erie Canal and the Great Miami River, this trail takes you to areas of the park formally inaccessible to anyone but the most avid hiker. This trail allows the user to safely pass under US 40 and Interstate 70, and cross over the Great Miami River on a pedestrian bridge.
