Starting a New Business
When selecting a location for a new business, it is advised to determine what the property is zoned. The type of business that will be conducted at that location must be a permitted use. To check the zoning of any property located in Huber Heights, simply call City Hall with the property address. The permitted uses are listed in the Huber Heights Zoning Code. Click here to view the Zoning Code. Copies of the zoning district may also be obtained at the City Hall building.
When starting a new business, an application for a Certificate of Zoning Compliance must be applied for. Click here for an application. Applications can also be picked up at City Hall. The certificate is valid for the life of the business while it is located at the address applied for. If the business moves locations, a new certificate must be applied for. If the business changes their name, a new certificate must be applied for. There is a $50.00 fee that must be paid at the time of application. This certificate should be applied for prior to opening of business.
The City of Huber Heights requires all signage identifying or advertising the business to have a Zoning Permit. Click here for an application. Applications can also be picked up at City Hall.There is a $30.00 application fee for each sign, plus $1.00 per square foot will be charged. Each sign must be applied for separately. Each application must be accompanied by 3 sets of drawings of the proposed sign. The drawings must be to scale. Payment is due at when application is submitted.
