Energy Aggregation Program

Energy Aggregation Update:

UPDATE 7/20/22:

City Council held a special meeting on 6/29/22 which can be viewed by clicking here.

Eligible residents and businesses who haven't locked into a contract with an energy supplier OR do not opt out will receive the rate of $0.0859/kWh through the City's electric aggregation program through Energy Harbor beginning with the September 2022 meter reading (October bill) through September 2025 (September bill). Residents will receive a letter with details on the program, how to opt out, and a FAQ sheet beginning the week of July 18th. See below for samples of what you will receive.

The agreement between The City of Huber Heights and Energy Harbour can be found here at https://public.destinyhosted.com/huberdocs/2022/CC/20220629_4468/8503_Energy_Aggregation_-_Exhibit_A_-_Amended.pdf

Comparing Your Own Rates

If you are not happy with AES's default rate or the aggregation rate obtained by the City, residents do have the option of comparing and locking in their own rate by visiting the following website:

https://www.energychoice.ohio.gov/

Once you are on the website, follow these steps:

Click the Compare Offers Now button in the middle of the page.

Choose Electric or Natural Gas.

Choose Residential and then AES Ohio (DP&L) for electric or CenterPoint Energy (Vectren) for natural gas.

This will bring you to the Apples to ApplesComparison Rate Chart. It is usually best to choose a supplier that has zero early termination fees, no monthly fees, and a fixed rate. You will also want to check the length of the program, if desired and make sure there is no intro fee. You can use the filters in the red area on the left-hand side of the page to narrow your search (place zeros in the blanks under early termination fee and monthly fee and click on Filter Results).

Once you have reviewed the suppliers and have decided on a rate, click on the red Sign Up button at the bottom of the box. This will then take you to that energy supplier’s website where you will need to enter your personal information, including your current utility account number. You can also call the listed phone number to sign up through a representative.

Please contact Russ Bergman, City Engineer, with questions by email or by calling (937) 237-5816.
