The water department has made some changes to the order in which water meters are read. This is being done to improve efficiencies in meter reading.
Does this affect me and if so how?
- First look at your water bill, if your account number starts with a 3* or 7* or 21* or 24* you may be included in these changes. If not, then this does not affect you!
- If you were/are in one of these cycles, the water bill the month prior to the change has a note in the bill message section of the water bill, letting you know to look closely at your next water bill as your account number, service dates and the date the bill is mailed out may be different than the last one you received. If the service dates change(d) it explains that that first bill would be prorated to reflect the new service ending date.
The bill message also urged customers to do the following if the account number had changed and they pay their bill electronically:
- Be sure to make the necessary changes to the account # and the new bill due date.
Please note even if your account number started with one of the cycle numbers above, your account may not be affected by this change.
PLEASE NOTE: These changes are now completed for cycle numbers 3* 7* and 21*. The individual accounts affected within those cycles have been moved to their new billing cycles and the bills were prorated if necessary.
The last and largest amount of accounts affected are in cycle number 24*. If you are in this cycle:
- Please read the message section of your next bill.
- Use it as a reminder to check the following billing to see if your account # changed.
- If it did change, be sure to change this information in your records and contact any bill pay service you may use to change your account number with them as well.
Be aware this change may cause you to receive 13 bills in one year. However, if you look at the service dates you will see that you have NOT been double billed.
