Water Service Line Inventory

New Federal EPA Guidelines Require Citywide Inventory of Water Service Delivery

The EPA has revised its Lead and Copper Rule with revisions that include requiring all communities and water utilities across the country to identify lead pipes that connect drinking water service to homes and other buildings. In accordance with the federal mandate, the City of Huber Heights is required to prepare and maintain an inventory of water service materials for all properties located within the City.

Although we do not believe the City currently has any lead service lines in our system, a letter may have been included in your water bill stating your service line material is “Unknown”. The letters were sent as required by EPA as a notice of possible Lead until the material is verified.

Huber Heights began working diligently on verifying and recording service line material in 2024 and continuing in 2025. Many homeowners participated last year in identifying and reporting their service line material to the City. The efforts by homeowners are much appreciated. The City has also been highly successful with the Meter Replacement Program this year, which has enabled the meter setters to record the material type of the service line while replacing the meter.

If the symbol on your property is Non-Lead\Non-Lead , your service has been verified as Copper or Plastic on both the City side and the owner side of the water meter. If the symbol is a variation of grey , your verification will be completed within the next few years.
